بسم الله ، والحمد لله ، والصلاة والسلام على المصطفى
My name is Khalil Klopfenstein and I am the translator and administrator for the Tulayhah.wordpress.com website. I converted to Islam from a Christian background in 2009, at the age of 19. In the ensuing years, I have taken the opportunities available in the different communities where I have lived to attend classes, improve my Arabic, build beneficial connections with those who have more knowledge, and acquire a small collection of beneficial books written or recommended by our salafi scholars. In 2014 I was blessed to be able to attend the 11th ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib Dawrah in Kuwait (October 23-30, 2014) with sheikh Sulayman al-Ruhaylee and sheikh Saalih al-Suhaymee, which was a pivotal experience for me in terms of seeking knowledge and connecting with the scholars. Following that, I completed a master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language in May 2017 and have been working in higher education since then. Alongside my work and family commitments, I make an effort to continue seeking knowledge through local and online classes, especially benefiting from the programs of sheikh ‘Abd al-Razzaq al-Badr and sheikh Khalid al-Batili, as well as through reading and benefiting from family and friends who have been blessed to study in more depth. Alhamdulillaah, in March 2019 I was able to return to Kuwait for the 20th ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib Dawrah (March 6th-13th, 2019) with sheikh Saalih al-Suhaymee and sheikh ‘Ali ibn Ghazi al-Tuwayjiree, and hope that Allah will enable me to attend other such beneficial conferences in the future.
My efforts on Tulayhah are that of translation, with an emphasis on the books of tafsir recommended by our salafi scholars. To the extent of my ability, I make an effort to accurately translate the materials that I publish on the Tulayhah website, however I am a human being and thus not free of mistakes. For this reason, I consistently provide the original Arabic text along with the English translation for the purposes of reference, checking and inshaAllaah for the benefit of those learning Arabic. If any mistakes are found, please comment or email email@example.com.
Alhamdulillaah, Allah has also blessed me in my wife, Sukhailah Bint-Khalil, who assists me in my translations and accurately understanding the texts, may Allah reward her. Sukhailah spent ten of her formative years in various centers of knowledge in Yemen, including three years in Damaaj where alongside her mother she regularly attended the classes of Umm Salamah, Umm ‘Abdullah al-Waadi’iyyah, and Umm ‘Abdullah al-Indoneesiyyah, among others. She and her family also studied in the Dar al-Hadeeth centers in Sana’a, Ma’bar, and Shihr during their time in Yemen. Upon returning to the United States, Sukhailah enrolled in an online summer program offered by “Knowledge International University” [جامعة المعرفة العالمية]*. She completed the course with high scores and was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a four-year Bachelors degree from their College of Sharee’ah, which she completed in 2016 by the grace of Allah. Sukhailah has also earned ijaazahs in the Qur’anic recitations of Hafs ‘an ‘Asim and Shu’bah ‘an ‘Asim, and is currently pursuing further ijaazah in the recitation of Qaaloon ‘an Nafi’.
